1. Student must be a high school junior at the time of application and must have their primary residence in Glades, Hendry, Highlands, or Okeechobee County. It is NOT a requirement to be powered by Glades Electric Cooperative.
2. Complete the Youth Tour application, including required attachments and video submission must be received in GEC’s office by January 5, 2027.
3. Must be able to participate in the Youth Tour trip to Washington, D.C. June 17-22, 2027.
4. Students must arrange for transportation to the selected airport chosen by the co-op. (MCO, TPA, RSW, SRQ, PBI, or FLL)
5. Students must be able to travel by air to Washington, D.C., and by charter bus in Washington, D.C. (Costs are covered by Glades Electric.) An electric cooperative chaperone will accompany students to Washington, DC where they will join other students and chaperones from across Florida.
6. Students must agree to the trip dress code which includes dress pants or skirt on Capitol Hill, and nice, non-athletic shorts of at least fingertip length or other non-athletic pants. No leggings, denim shorts or sport shorts outside of the hotel. Shirts will be provided by the cooperative.
