Glades Electric Educational Foundation Awards $8,000 in Scholarships for iTECH Glades Students
The Glades Electric Educational Foundation (GEEF) awarded $8,000 in scholarships to students enrolling in career programs at iTECH Glades.
The career program scholarships mark the first ever vocational program scholarships for the foundation, which historically has awarded college scholarships to graduating high school seniors.
Four recipients were selected through an application process, which included letters of recommendation, educational history, and acceptance to qualified programs. To qualify, each student’s primary residence must be served by Glades Electric Cooperative, Inc.
Each recipient received a $2,000 scholarship toward their program fees.
GEEF’s four scholarship recipients are Ellie Goodwin, who is enrolled in the Medical Administrative Specialist program; and Briana Leavy, Bailey Raulerson and Sara Watts, all enrolled in the Licensed Practical Nurse program.
“Glades Electric has a long history of providing scholarships to students residing in our service area. The opening of iTECH Glades has provided us another opportunity to invest in the students we serve. I am excited about Glades Electric Educational Foundation’s investment supporting technical education opportunities for our students,” said Glades Electric Educational Foundation Board Member Mike Pressley.
GEEF scholarships are funded by unclaimed Glades Electric Cooperative capital credits. Since beginning in 2000, GEEF has awarded $636,000 in student scholarships.
