Celebrating 80 Years of Neighbors Working for Neighbors

Eighty years ago, in January of 1945, a group of determined local residents gathered on the courthouse steps in Moore Haven with a vision—to bring electricity to homes and farms that had been left in the dark. That vision became Glades Electric Cooperative, a community-driven force that has powered Florida’s Heartland ever since.

As we approach our 80th Annual Meeting, we’re proud to share this special video—honoring our history and looking ahead to a future of transformation. Just as we set out 80 years ago to bring electricity to the unserved, we are now building a high-speed fiber network to close the digital divide in Florida’s Heartland. We look forward to another 80 years of powering life and serving our communities.
